
Needleleaf, coniferous (hence the name of the forest...duh) trees are the dominating plants of the taiga. The four general species are the evergreen spruce (Picea), fir (Abies), pine (Pinus), and the deciduous larchor tamarack (Larix. In North America, one or do species of each are dominant. Around the more Europian parts of the coniferous forests,the Scots pine is more common.
